Response on exercises and my thoughts on the Stanislavsky system as method of actor training

The director dictator: 1891 - 1906

Stanislavsky had a strategy for his ideas called a "production plan" , where he filled a playtexf with details that he thought out before rehearsals began. This is a very effective exercises because it helped his mind to be fresh with ideas before the rehearsals, moreover, if an idea didn't work out he had another 6 or 7 ideas to help him carry in acting or directing. Having a production plan is effective because it helps to make sure your mains never goes blank. The production plan contained , blocking , ideas , how to move , how to act, where and when to change position and even the type of voices that he thought the actors should use, which is effective idea because it helps the actors to understand the artistic vision that Stanislavsky was looking for, for the characters.

Stanislavskys system of method actor training was really odd because "the actors then had to carry out his direction with total and unquestioning precision " I believe this was a bad technique because what if the actor didn't understand what he meant , although I think it's also a good technique because it teaches that actors to rely and believe in their own abilities to research and truly understand a character that they are playing.

Stanislavsky did a play called " The seagull by Anton Chekhov (1860-1904" , which had no characters and no basic plot at all , therefore, it was quite confusing to direct and Perform. Stanislavsky didn't understand the leah at all, however , his acting methods ended up unlocking the difficulties of " chekhovs psychological" writing in a way that the Aleksandrinky company had previously failed to do. This makes Stanislavskys method of actor training effective becaus it's so step by step detailed acting methods that it help with breaking down the script to understand what the play writer was actually saying, moreover , this teaches me as an actor/ director of you do not truly break down the script you will not be able to truly understand what the play is about at all.

Round - The - Table - Analysis 1906 - early 1930s

Round the table analysis is when Stanislavsky gathered the acting company around the table, where together they unravelled a play text and its characters, This is a effective actors tarijgntjn method because it helps generate new and creative ideas for a peice of theatre , moreover, devising helps to make sure you are not stuck to what the play says but try different ideas to see if it Conan make the play or performance more entertaining then just the basic story line of that play.

While breaking down the text they retold the context of the play and made a list of all the facts, events and given circumstances proposed by the play . Stanislavsky found objectives that characters possess to perform.

Stanislavsky thought " what if actors didn't have the basic actor techniques?" , therefore , he created/dedicated a Drama school to the Moscow Art Theatre. He analysed the actors and what their advantages and disadvantages were, Thais is a very effective part of actor training because without evaluating your self you will not know if you need to improve on a acting technique or not.

"Through the 'immobility exercise' , Stanislavsky wanted his actors to realise how powerful stillness and silence could be" , stillness and Silence are very effective acting techniques because it helps the actor to understand how the character is feeling at that time and moment. Stillness is very good because it helps that actor to understand and perfume their given circumstances and objectives of the character.

Exercise 4.1
I strongy believe that Stanislavskys exercise 4.1 is really good because by lying down and relaxing, it helps the actor to only think about their character and the play m, taken them away from the distractions of the world.

Exercise 4.2 & 4.3
Exercise 4.2  is abound working with one given circumstances and Exercise 4.3 is about Woking with two, working with given circumstances is good because it helps to bring to life that the actor is acting as someone else. By being the Charing to life is very good because it's easier to show emotions and opinions of the characters.

Exercise 4.4
Exercise 4.4 is about actors finding a dramatic action and maintaining. Exercise 4.4 says to select an place and time, this effective because this helps to make sure that you have loads off objectives that you could play, for example , Exercise 4.4 possible objectives are...

• To make yourself understood
•To get your your partner to leave the room
• To disguise your true identity
• To find out the truth

Some objectives i have found is...

• To pause
• To watch
• To feel
• To inform
• To admit
• To open/Open your self
• To search
• To look
• To discover

Hedda Gabler play response

Hedda Gabler play response

The characters

Hedda Tesman: Hedda Tesman is portrayed to be a character of extreme class and good up bringing. I believe that Hedda is in love with her husband and has deep affection for Mr Eilert in some type of way during the play. Hedda has constant control over all the characters in the play, she uses her charm to manipulate the Characters to do what she says or even agree with her. She's is very good at getting what she wants because she's a very controlling person and she knows George Tesman will do what every she says , "if she says jump , George will go how high?"

George Tesman: George Tesman is married to Hedda and is a man of great class and social statues in the play. Mr Tesman is a man of not practical relevance but only of theoretical interest, this is seen in Act 3 when Mr Tesman finds Mr Eilert Loevborg diary and he becomes jealous and intrested in his friends artistic genius that he hides the book so that his friends would not be seen as a greater writer than him. The first reaction you have to George Tesman when you first read about him is that he is a respectable man in the play.

Juliana Tesman : Juliana Tesman is the aunt of George Tesman and is basically a mother to him because she has helped bring George up to the strong man that he now is. She is a respectable woman who believes that the man is the one in charge and the wife should respect that at all times, The play was set in the 1890's, these were times, were woman did not have much rights and obeyed the husbands commands, aunt Tesman portrays that she believes Hedda Gould obey Me Tesman, her husband, at all times.

Judge Brack: judge Brack is a friend  of Mr Tesman and his wife. Judge Brack is seen to be the most respectable character in the play because he is described to have class and statues, " He wears a fashionable grey suit", this shows that he is a man of respectable class and statues. The stage directions also say " He uses a monocle" , A monocle is basically a magnifying glass to read that people of high statues tend it use instead of glasses which was associated for just a basic common working class person.

Eilert Loevborg : Eilert Loevborg is a writer and a very good friend of my Tesman , well we think they are until Mr Tesman finds Eilerta book and doesn't return it because of pure jealous for mr Eilert Loevborg. Mr Loevborg is described as " dressed fashionably in a fairly new suit, top hat ...", This implies that he is trying to impress the team and and whoever else would have been at their homes. Mr Eilert Loevborg has deep affections for Hedda Tesman because j the play it has been implied they had a love history before Hedda met George Tesman. The play Henrik Ihsen hints a relationship through the character of Mr Loevborg when he says " Did you love me ? A spark? A flicker perhaps?"

Thea Elvsted :  Thea Elvsted is the youngest character in the play of age of twenty-six, she is the wife of the high sheriff l, however, throughout the play she  tends to try flirt with Mr Loevborg. Thea and Hedda are portrayed to be best friends or even really close friends to each other. Thea helped mr Loevborg write his transcript and then told everyone it was here and Mr loevborgs baby because she believed they shared a  deep connection.

Berthe: Berthe is the Tesman's live in maid, She is fifty five years old. I believe she is meant to represent that the lower class people can work for their whole lives but never measure up to the wealth and statues of upper class people and middle-upper class people as well.

The situation

When there is a dramatic situation in the play the writer tends to make the charters talk in slow short sentences,
For example...

One page 51 Hedda and Loevborg speech hints they were in a past relationship.

" Loevborg : Hedda..Gabler...
Hedda : Sshhh...
Loevborg : Hedda... Gabler...
Hedda : I was. "

The phrase "Shh" suggests that Hedda doesn't want to talk about there past, implying to the reader that they had a past, her husband doesn't know about at all , therefore she's trying to keep it a secret.

The story of the play
The basic story of the play is that hedda Gabler/Tesman struggles to live the normal married life of how a woman of the 1890's in meant to act. a woman of the 1890s main aims are to look after the man and the children as well as the home, they are meant to let the husband be the breed winner, however, "hedda Gabler" doesn't want to conform to what people except "Gabler Tesman" has to act like which is to obey the husband and take care of the house.

Hedda has a passion for life that she believes her marriage doesn't Bring, the passion in life that she is look for. The Play-wright of the play, Henrik Ibsen may have made hedda to signifiy that things for woman were going to change, which they did in 1918 when woman got the vote and when almost all women could vote in 1928.

The story of the play "Hedda Gabler" by Henrik Ibsen addressed many themes throughout the play, theme such as, Generation, gender , social class , marriage, love , greeded , jealous etc
